Your library is enough.
You already own more great music than you remember. Every mix, queue and suggestion in Lumae starts from what is on your server.
For people who listen
Lumae is a music player for your own music server. It knows how every song in your library sounds, so it can build mixes that flow, queues that never jolt, and a way back to albums you forgot you loved.
Needs your own Navidrome or Jellyfin 12 server and AudioMuse-AI 3.2 or newer with the Lumae Analysis plugin. What you need
Screens show the next build, with made-up music.
Why Lumae
You already own more great music than you remember. Every mix, queue and suggestion in Lumae starts from what is on your server.
Lumae never truly shuffles. Every mix, and every press of Shuffle, is put in an order where each song leads into the next, like a set someone cared about.
Play one from start to finish, in order, then take a moment to rate it. Lumae is made for listening, not for scrolling.
There is no account and no Lumae server. Your music stays on your server, and your taste is worked out on your phone.
How it works
Lumae doesn't stream from a catalog or upload your library anywhere. It works with two servers you run yourself, and does its thinking on your phone.
Navidrome or Jellyfin keeps your music, just as it does today. Lumae streams and downloads from it, and keeps ratings, plays and playlists in sync.
Listens to every track once and describes how it sounds: energy, mood, tempo, key and a 200-number summary of its sound. Lumae Analysis, Lumae's own plugin for AudioMuse-AI, gets that ready for your phone.
Syncs that description, then works out your mixes, queues and suggestions on the phone. The music itself streams straight from your server.
There is no Lumae server in the middle, so nothing about your listening passes through one.
Lumae is for people who already run their own music server. Once AudioMuse-AI has analyzed your library and Lumae Analysis is installed, connecting Lumae takes a few minutes; the first import can take longer.
Anti-shuffle
Random shuffle can follow a whisper with a scream. Lumae places every song by how it sounds and walks between close neighbors, so the music moves without lurching.
Each dot is a song. Close dots sound alike.

Home
Open Lumae and The Pulse is waiting: one mix for this time of day and what you've been into lately. Play it, or skip to another.
Now Playing
Album art comes first, always large. Open the queue to see the sonic path ahead, and change where it goes while it plays.
Or steer the path brighter, darker, calmer or more intense. Every change can be undone.
Discover
Discover is a set of invitations, not a to-do list. Each tool walks your library a different way; only Albums to discover looks past it, at albums you don't own yet.
Start from any song and drift twenty steps away from it, wandering further from where you began.
Try a quiet acoustic song, and see where you end up.
Pick two songs. Lumae finds a path of two to seven stops between them.
Try a jazz ballad to a techno track.
Songs you loved, then stopped playing for three months or more. And your taste through time: play an era.
Start with a song and choose what comes next, pick by pick. Save the trail as a playlist on your server.
Describe what you want. The answer is up to three songs from your library, each with a reason.
Needs your own AI service: OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter or self-hosted.
Once a day, albums you don't own yet, picked from your listening by Last.fm or your AI. Save the ones you want to your Want List.
Off until you turn it on.
Hear something you think you own? Tap the microphone on Discover and record about twenty seconds. Your AudioMuse-AI server finds the song in your library, and you play on from there.
Needs AudioMuse-AI 3.6.2 or newer with Neural Fingerprint turned on. The clip goes only to your server and is deleted after the search.
Vibe
Describe it in a few words, shape it with sliders, or blend it from songs you love. Save it as a Vibe and it plays endlessly, in anti-shuffle order, from your own library.
Your words become genres, an energy level and mood leanings. Lumae then finds the songs in your library that fit, and puts them in an order that flows.
Type a few words, like “rock workout” or “deep focus”. Keep it strict or let it wander.
Ten sliders, from energy and mood to vocals and atmosphere. Matching songs appear as you move them.
Mix up to ten tracks, albums and playlists, then set how much each one counts.
The shape of your last 90 days of listening. Play one side of your taste, or explore it.
Blend two Palettes and find the space between them.
Push a Vibe while it plays: warmer or cooler, sparser or denser, familiar or new.
Saved Vibes follow you to your other phones. Share a Palette as a code, and it is rebuilt from the other person's library by sound.
Sonic DNA
On Now Playing, tap Sonic DNA to see the song's ten traits. Pick the ones that got you, say its atmosphere and its tempo, and Lumae finds songs that share them.
Deep Listen
Press Play album and Lumae gets out of the way. The album plays in order, without crossfades or loudness changes, and ends in a moment of silence.
Then it asks how it was: stars, whether you'd return to it, and which vibe it fits. Give it five stars and Lumae offers to follow its sonic neighbors down a Rabbit Hole.
Ratings sync both ways with your music server, so the stars you give elsewhere count too.
Library
Your library, arranged the way you think about it.
A shelf you curate, shown large and one album at a time. When you want more, Beyond your shelf deals albums you already own, with reasons.
Mix whole albums and single tracks in your own order. Play one as a Vibe, keep it offline, give it a cover.
Rules like genre, mood, tempo, energy, key, year or rating, saved as real playlists on your server.
Discographies by era, your top tracks, and artists who sound alike. Credits connect albums through the people who made them.
Grow a playlist or collection with songs from your library that fit its sound, or let your AI choose.
Give a Vibe, collection or playlist one of its album covers or your own photo, or give a Vibe a color. Covers follow you to your other phones.
Sound
SmoothFade times each crossfade to where one song really ends and the next really begins, using Lumae Analysis's measurements of both. Songs that follow each other on an album are never crossfaded; they play gapless.
Everywhere
Keep any album, playlist, collection, artist or Palette offline. Smart downloads keeps a rotating set of music you'll want, and a full mirror keeps whole libraries on your phone.
Android Auto and CarPlay, with Home, Vibes, Library and Downloads. Android Auto takes voice search too.
Chromecast on both phones and AirPlay on iPhone. On Android, Sonos and Marantz (HEOS) speakers too.
Some listens are just for you. Stealth keeps them out of your history, your taste and your scrobbles for three hours, until midnight, or until you turn it off.
Reopen Lumae and pick up your last queue, within two hours or as long as you choose. On Android, pressing play in the car or on your headphones does it too.
Synced or plain lyrics from your music server, right over the album art.
Privacy
Lumae has no server of its own. Your music, your listening history and your taste stay on your phone and on servers you run.
Passwords, tokens and keys you enter go in your phone's secure storage. For Jellyfin, Lumae keeps a token, never your password.
AI is off until you connect your own service. It gets titles, artists, genres, moods and some ratings, never your audio or exact listening times. Once on, it also names your mixes; you can turn that off.
Keep a session out of your history, taste and scrobbles. Lumae Radio is always in Stealth.
Get started
In AudioMuse-AI, open Plugins and install Lumae Analysis from the catalog. Turn on its collection manager to sync Collections, shelves, Vibes and covers between phones.
Sign up with the form and I'll send you an invite: Google Play on Android now, TestFlight on iPhone once Apple approves the public beta.
Lumae asks for your AudioMuse-AI and music server, and checks both before it changes anything.
Your library is ready to browse as it arrives. A short guide shows you around while the analysis syncs.
Questions
No. Lumae is built on AudioMuse-AI's analysis of your music: without it, there is nothing to tell one song's sound from another. AudioMuse-AI is a self-hosted project that runs next to your music server.
Navidrome, and Jellyfin 12.0 or newer with Lumae Analysis 1.6.0 or newer. Other Subsonic servers, Plex, Emby and Lyrion aren't supported. A phone stays with the server type it was set up with: moving between Navidrome and Jellyfin means a fresh install of Lumae.
Music streams from your server to your phone, and your history and taste stay on your phone and your own servers. If you turn on AI or album suggestions, those services get only what their feature needs, never your audio. The privacy policy has every detail.
Yes. Keep what you like offline, let Smart downloads fill a budget with music you'll want, or mirror a whole library. Offline mode plays downloads only.
No, Lumae is made for phones. For the living room there is Lumae Radio, now in beta.
No sleep timer, playback speed control or queue reordering yet, and no EQ on iPhone. CarPlay has no search or Siri. While you cast, SmoothFade, loudness leveling and the EQ pause.
No. Lumae is an independent project. Problems with the app belong in Lumae's GitHub issues; confirmed AudioMuse-AI server or plugin-system problems belong with the AudioMuse-AI project.
Open an issue on GitHub, or in the app go to Library ≡ → Settings → About & help → Report an issue or get in touch. Mention your phone, your music server, AudioMuse-AI and Lumae Analysis versions, your library's rough size, and what you were doing. Issues are public, so email logs to apps@rendyjansen.com instead.
